How to Talk to Users
based on ycombinator talk
this is my resume
Good founders maintain a direct connection to their users. No middleman!
Write code, talk with your users
Three common errors you probably make when talking to users...
The Mom Test
- Talk about their life, not your idea
- Talk specifics, not hypotheticals
- Listen, don't talk
Five great questions you can ask in every user interview
- What's the harderst part about [doing this thing]?
- Tell me about the last time you encountered that problem
- Why was this hard
- What, if anything, have you done to try to solve the problem
- What don't you love about the solutions you've tried? -> Que no te gusta de la solución actual
- Cuales son las diferencias entre la solución actual y la que hoy se está ofreciendo
Talking to users is useful at all stages:
- Got idea? -> find users with problem
- Built prototype -> best first customer
- Launched -> find product market fit
Idea Stage
- Find first users with problem
- Frinds, coworkers, intros
- Drop by in person!
- Industry events
